A Brief History of LOOM

The Eastside Playhouse
The Eastside Playhouse, LOOM's longtime home
What an idea! A professional repertory theatre company producing nothing but musicals fifty-two weeks a year. For over a quarter century, The Light Opera of Manhattan (affectionately known as LOOM) was a musical theatre lover's dream come true. This page is a celebration of this greatly missed organization and some of its members.

If you have any photos or other LOOM memorabilia you would like to contribute, please let me know at jbk@musicals101.com and I'll add it to what's here. Let's keep the memory of this wonderful company alive!

WE ARE NOT ALONE: One of LOOM's official photographers has set up a handsome site showcasing superb photos of the company in performance -- click here to visit Michael Donadio's LOOM site.

(NOTE ON RIGHTS: As LOOM is no longer performing, I was unable to locate anyone to obtain official permission for use of the photos in these pages. Because this is an educational not-for-profit website, I have gone ahead and used them under the principle of Fair Use.)
