millar.jpg (9317 bytes)Gertie Millar reigned as London's premier musical ingénue in The Quaker Girl (1910), Gipsy Love (1912), The Dancing Mistress (1912) and a major revival of The Country Girl (1913). World War I brought a change in popular tastes, and after appearing in several quick failures, Millar left the stage at age 29.
terriss.jpg (8929 bytes)Soprano Ellaline Terriss co-starred with husband Seymour Hicks in a series of London hits, including The Shop Girl (1895), The Circus Girl (1896), A Runaway Girl (1898) and The Cherry Girl (1903).
bessielove.jpg (5569 bytes)Bessie Love found fame on the silent screen, but she made musical history as the star of MGM's Academy Award winning hit Broadway Melody (1929). She ended her long film career with a cameo in the gay bathhouse comedy The Ritz (1976).
